What's New????

Well, I haven't written anything for quite some time. I was talking with my sister Ruth and she got me thinking about writing for my blog again...so here I am!

There has been quite a few life changes since my last posting! I graduated from Purdue in May with my teaching degree, but I have yet to find a teaching job! Finding a job is a lot harder than it looks. I'm going to just keep applying and hope for the best! I also moved back home with my parents. I love my parents to death, but after living on your own for 4 years it's a hard transition! I'm working on it though to make the best of the situation, especially because you can't beat free rent and food!

Graduation Day at Purdue University with my parents and my sisters and their husbands, May 2012.

My dear Grandmother also passed away this May (the day after my graduation actually). Grandma lived with my family for about 6 years. My mom was her primary caretaker and we all loved having Grandma around. It was a hard time watching her take her last breath, but we all know that she is now celebrating in heaven with the good Lord and Grandpa and saving a place for all of us to meet her one day.

This is one of the last pictures that we have of Grandma with some of her daughters and Grand-daughters taken in March 2012.

My oldest sister, Ruth, is pregnant with twins! Yes, I said TWINS!!! It's such an exciting time to see her belly growing and we all can't wait to meet the two new little ones...I LOVE BABIES!!! I'm almost glad that I don't have a full time job right so that I can help her as much as possible. Her due date is supposed to be October 19, 2012. I say 'supposed to be' because she most likely wont make it until then. She has already been in the hospital with some contraction. Luckily she is back home and is still cooking those babies! Hopefully, she can make it a few more weeks...the longer cooking time the better!

This is my Prego sister Ruth...she is 31 1/2 weeks!

My love life has been something to talk about lately as well...at least my family loves to talk about it. I have met a special boy and he has kinda stolen my heart already! I think he fits right in with the family too! He loves to talk about farming with my Dad and brothers and has that smart-ass attitude that we all have...I find this a necessary in any relationship because my family can get a little sarcastic with one another! I'm sure there will be plenty to write about Ryan later though...oh yeah did I mention that his name is Ryan?? Well, it is. I found this hilarious because we always said that I would bring home a guy who had a similar name to my brother-in-laws. My brother-in-laws are Brian and Brandon...and now we have a Ryan to add to the mix! haha...try and say those three names fast...gets a little confusing!

Oh well, I think that's enough writing for today...time to think about my next posting!

Bullying Is A Vicious Thing

I knew that getting into the profession of teaching there would bullying that I would have to deal with among children. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would have to see it among the teachers at the school. I was flabbergasted today by the conversation I heard in the teacher lounge.

There were about 8 teachers sitting at one table, including myself, and then there was only 1 sitting at a nearby table. I thought this was odd because everyone usually mingled, but then I just brushed it off and continued with my lunch. After the lonesome teacher left I could not believe my ears. One of the teachers at my table right out told the other teachers to not talk to that other teacher sitting alone because of some asinine reason. I could not believe what I was hearing! I was the youngest and least experienced person in the room and sure as hell knew that this was unbelievable. Was this actually going on between the teachers? How are we, the teachers, supposed to preach to the students to not bully one another when the teachers themselves are bullying each other? I truthfully could not believe what was happening.

I wish had said something to the teacher, but, being as I am only a student teacher, I felt like it probably would have been frowned upon to call another teacher out when I do not actually work at the school.

So here is my goal for everyone: Treat everyone with respect. It's not a hard thing to do. I know this is a cliche saying, but if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.....what if the tables were turned on you?

I can only hope that if I hear this again I have the nerve to say something about it to the teacher....it really shows the quality of the person when they begin to do something as low as bullying another teacher. Especially in this world where we are trying to combat it one student at a time....but I guess that doesn't apply to teachers/adults now does that????

This really bothers me! To think that someone would right out say that to a room of people just amazes me. What is this world coming too? And people wonder where our children learn how to bully others....well just look at the adults that they are around.

Would Ya Look at That!

This pretty much sums me up....

And of course I laugh at my own jokes. Otherwise nobody would!

Just Me Venting....

As I am approaching the last few weeks of my student teaching position at the secondary level, I have noticed one thing....My college professors must really think we know everything and can pull crap out of a hat. I truly have enjoyed all my professors, but do they honestly think that we have all the time in the world to pretty much work a full time job, lesson plan in the evenings and then do extra work on top of that??? I would love to see them try and do this while not becoming a hermit on the weekends. If they succeed then kudos to them!

I also don't know how they expect us to do well on assignments when I, or anyone else in my major, can figure out the student teaching manual that has all our assignments in it. It's like every time I look through the thing I am gonna have a heart attack because I find something else that needs to be done that I haven't seen before. Just the other night I almost had a nervous break down because there is one assignment that no one in the major really knows how to do....guess ya fail at somethings in life, don't ya?

Well, guess I am just gonna finish drowning my sorrows in this uber delicious Choco Cherry Love blizzard from DQ....it's so good! Try one!

How Rude! (In that Stephanie Tanner sort of voice)

As most of you might know, today is Ash Wednesday. It is the day that marks the beginning of the Lenten season for all Catholics. Well, as the good Catholic girl that I was raised to be, I of course went to church. While sitting in the back of the church, where I normally reside on a weekly basis, I was thinking my own thoughts and preparing myself for Mass to begin when I hear these two guys talking. I don't mind a little bit of talking, but this was getting to be disturbing to me and I am sure to others around me as well. It's one thing if you want to talk about getting drunk back in high school and how your mom told you to not take pulls from a vodka bottle but to be classy and at least drink from a glass, but this is something you might talk about when you are at a party with friends not when you are sitting at church. I may be the queen of inappropriate comments, but I do know that Mass is not the time and place to start blurting them out.

Anyways, these two guys carried on for almost the whole duration of Mass. They were talking about finding a date at church, checking into places on Facebook, how they were excited to go to Harry's, a local bar, after Mass, blah blah blah. I too do the whole 'look around the church to see who is cute and possibly available' thing, I check into Facebook when I go paces, and I love to visit Uncle Harry once in awhile. But I honestly feel that when you are at Mass you should be reverent and not disturbing others around you. I had half a notion to turn around and say something to them, but I bit my tongue and instead said a little prayer for the two of them. Maybe they will stumble across this blog and realize how rude they were being to not only the people around them, but also to God.

On another note, I am so thankful for my family, especially my younger brother! If I didn't have him at school with me this year, I would have definitely been late to student teaching. So you are probably wondering what this story is all about.....well, let me inform you of the the great way I started out my Mardi Gras. I just ran out the door to leave for school since I always tell myself that I am going to leave earlier than I did the day before so that I have more time to get ready class. I did exit my apartment door at the time I wanted, but as I am sitting in my car ready to back out of my parking space I look in my rear-view mirror and see nothing better than a parked car. Yes, a parked car that was parked directly behind my car keeping me from leaving  my parking lot so I could get to school on time. Did I mention that I had my supervisor from my college coming to observe me during my first period class this day too? Yeah, well I did and if I wasn't already nervous enough about that just throw a parked car into the equation and you really see a great side of me. Hoping that the owner of the vehicle was still out and about in the apartment building somewhere, I ran through every hallway looking for someone to move a damn vehicle before I tried to move it myself. I had no luck in this endeavor and had to wake up my wonderful brother at 7:30am to ask if I could borrow his truck. Mind you, we live on a farm so my brother has a big 'ol diesel Chevy Silverado and it is his 'baby.' I mean 'baby' when I say that too, because I got a text later in the day asking if his 'baby' was okay...I of course responded with "dead" just for shiggles.  I for sure felt like the cool kid driving to school that day. To say the least, the person who had parked the car behind me received a nice little note from me that afternoon when I got back....I hope they learned their lesson, because that was just plain rude. But I sincerely want to thank my brother for allowing me to drive his "baby" for the day!

Alrighty, I think I have vented enough for one night....Have a great Lenten season!

In Case You Are Wondering Why I Am Writing This...

You are probably wondering why a young person such as myself would want to write a blog called the 'Sarcasm Inside Me.' The main reason is because my sisters and I were sitting around the dinner table one night and one of them said that I should start a blog and the other one agreed....well here I am writing a stinkin' blog. Also, because my older sister is such a Martha Stewart, being this whole superwoman and what-not, I felt like I could show up in at least one aspect of life. Oh, wait....she is married, has 3 children, recently started her her own Etsy shop sewing just about anything you could imagine and blogs about her life, projects, and what she is making for dinner too! Can I say I got screwed having two older sisters who do so much more than me. (If you two read this, please know that I dearly love the both of you and truly do look up to and hope I will be just like you one day. But seriously, take a break and let me catch up!)

To get on with what I was trying to say, I do feel that most people do not understand my sarcasm that I use, but my family does and for some odd reason they think it's funny or inappropriate, your choice. I may not be for everyone, though. I can be a little crude at times, or so I am told that I always push the envelope a little too far when talking about inappropriate subjects....so maybe my parents are in the same room when I say these things. I really just do it to see how everyone is going to react.

There was this one time when I said a completely inappropriate comment at the dinner table, though I was little embarrassed about it after I said it. So this is how it goes.... It was Christmas Eve and my sister and her husbands and kids were over for dinner along with my Nana. It was the end of dinner and I was stuck in a corner of the dining room where I could not exit, but I had to take some medicine. I usually took it right after dinner since it made me a nauseous if I didn't take it with food. I asked my sister to pass my pill case to her husband who was on the opposite side of the table of me (BTW...my brother-in-law and I get along great! hahaha wink, wink! We have that wonderful love-hate relationship thing going on.). ANYWAYS.....I took my pills out to get ready to plop them in my mouth. Mind you, I take a lot of pills at one time. They are like horse pills people!!! And I don't just take one at a time. No, it's like 5 or 6 at a time. My brother-in-law is looking at me at this time and is in just awe that I took all of them at one time. Well, to his surprise and the surprise of everyone else at the table (mind you my 76 year Nana is sitting right next to me), I say the following smartass comment, "I'm going to make some man very proud one day."

To say the least, I got a very stern look from my dad at first ...... then a table full of laughter and a bunch of comments about going too far. I was very surprised though that my Nana even chuckled a little.

Although this first blog thingy may not be full of sarcasm, you just wait! I am full of sarcastic comments that are finally going to be heard by people other than my family and close friends...at least I can hope, right? Anyways...I'm done for the night...gotta figure out how I'm going to survive another week student teaching a bunch of middle schoolers! Ya know, I pay to go to college....it would have been nice to get paid a little something to teach a bunch of kids filled with attitude and disrespect instead of emptying my already negative bank account to work an unpaid full-time job. That's life I guess.

Looks like this could be a post in the near future!

Night y'all!
